My story “Flickering Dusk of the Video God” was featured on this week’s episode of PseudoPod, and you can read and/or listen to it here (or simply download Episode 780 wherever you get podcasts).
This is my third story to be performed on the show and, frankly, I’m psyched. I love PseudoPod just as a listener alone, and it’s been a major highlight of my writing career to contribute even a single story, let alone three.
This time around, my words were read by Robert Eccles, who is one of my absolute favorite PseudoPod narrators. I’ve admired his performances for some time – check out “Black Matter” and “Cordona’s Skull” for two of my particular favorites – and was thrilled to see his name attached to this episode.
I want to thank Robert for doing a wonderful job with the story, as usual, and also Shawn and Scott and everybody else at PseudoPod for all that they do and for letting me be part of the team again. If you are able, I highly encourage you to support the show any way you can – if not by monetary donation, then by downloading, sharing, blogging and/or Tweeting about it. “Flickering Dusk of the Video God” was originally written as part of a workshop I attended at Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) in Bainbridge Island, Washington. The class was taught by Kathleen Alcalá, and both she and my fellow student-writers deserve a share of the credit for the story being as good as it ultimately became. Thanks, all!
It was first published in the 2020 anthology “Monsters, Movies & Mayhem,” edited by Kevin J. Anderson, which went on to win the 2021 Colorado Book Award for Best Anthology. Here again, I owe much to Kevin and his editorial team and students (the book was assembled as part of a publishing MA program at Western Colorado University). Thanks to you all!
Finally, as mentioned in the notes at the start of the show, I am currently at work on a novel and seeking representation. Though I tend to avoid social media if possible, I can be reached via Citmyway11@gmail.com and serious inquiries will always be promptly responded to. Samples/excerpts are available upon request.
Thanks for your time and interest. The world is a frantic media-saturated place and it means a lot you chose to spend a little time with me.
Take care!
